YouTube Outro: How to Create an END SCREEN

The increase in the number of subscribers and views on a YouTube channel is the result of several parameters that every YouTuber must know and not neglect. Among these settings is the creation of an end screen.

What is an end screen?

How to create a YouTube end screen?

In this article, I'll show you how to create an animated end screen in just a few minutes for your YouTube videos that you can reuse. I will then explain how you can use them to your advantage.

And finally, I'll show you how to integrate it into your video editing and how to set it up the right way in YouTube Studio to increase your views.

Why create a YouTube END SCREEN?

End screens are a very powerful tool to increase your views by encouraging your hardcore fans who watched your videos to the end to watch other videos from your catalog. This allows you to increase your SEO by increasing your watch times, which is one of the most important elements on YouTube today.

The problem often is that YouTubers add links to other videos without using an end screen. It hides part of their face and it looks amateurish. If you want to give a more professional look to your videos by guiding your viewers towards your calls to actions, today you can create animated end screens aligned with your visual identity in just a few clicks.

Your end screens allow you to insert links to other videos on your YouTube channel to give the option to subscribe or even to an external URL such as your website or a capture page. These links appear above your video for the last 20 seconds.

This is very powerful for making your calls to action directly accessible just a click away. This is what an end screen looks like if you're not yet familiar with the concept

We can clearly see that on the end screen, there are videos appearing. One is related to the theme of the video and the other is suggested by the algorithm. We also have the button to subscribe to the channel. Note that this is a static end screen with a photo and text.

While in this tutorial, we will learn how to create a dynamic and animated end screen But before that, I would like you to have a good understanding of how end screens work.

To preview the end screen of a video, go to the YouTube studio and click on the '' Details '' button of the video, then open the '' End screen '' tab.

It is therefore in this interface that you can customize your end screens once you have created them.

Your end screen is integrated into your video montage. It is exported as is for uploading and the links are added in the YouTube studio. The end screen appears in the last 20 seconds of the video and allows you to highlight the links in your calls to action.

So, what can you refer to?

What can be added to the end screen?

You can link to a button to subscribe. This button makes it very easy for people to subscribe to your YouTube channel or someone else's channel . This is handy when you have a guest in your video.

You can also link to a video of your choice, ideally related to the theme of your video. The goal is for your viewer to continue watching your videos. If you know he came for a swimming lesson, don't link to a gardening video. Ask yourself what might help them more after watching your video.

You can link to content suitable for the viewer. This is a very interesting option, because each viewer has a different background and has watched different videos from your catalog. The algorithm will therefore suggest a video that he has not already viewed. On the other hand, you are not sure whether this video is directly related to the content of your video.

The best combination is a mix between a video that you will choose to recommend yourself and then the one that the algorithm will recommend for the user. So, you choose exactly the video to watch as the first option and if this video has already been seen, you can be sure that the video that will be ordered will be interesting for the viewer.

YouTube invests a lot of money into its recommendation tool and it is very effective.

Furthermore, until recently, it was not easy to create an animated end screen. You had to know about animation and be creative with software like  Adobe After Effects . Those days are now over and it is very easy today to create beautiful animated end screens in just a few minutes, without having to know anything about it.

For this purpose, here we are going to use an awesome platform called Placeit to learn how to create an end screen.

How to Use Placeit to Create an Animated End Screen

To create an end screen, we will go to Placeit , a simple platform with which you have an animated end screen in a few minutes. You will see that there are Instagram and Facebook stories formats, covers, animated logos, Twitch screens, etc. There is also the possibility of creating mockups.

In this tab you will find several end screen models to choose from with more or less animation.

You have the option to choose the best-selling or the newest end screens. Choose what suits you most. The great thing about Placeit is that you don't need to register before you start creating. But if you want to download it without the ''Placeit'' watermark, you will have to pay.

Either you buy it all at once for $9.95 or you take out a monthly subscription for $14.95 or the annual version with 50% off .

The advantage with the monthly subscription is that you have unlimited access to all designs.

Placeit allows you to make small adjustments to your end screen.  In the panel on the right, you can add colors that match your visual identity.

You also have another customization panel on the left where you can modify the texts of your end screen and even choose the typos .

On the end screen, you automatically have small white frames in which you can put your videos once online. But I advise you to delete them to have more freedom in creating your end screen.

To do this, simply set the “ White Boxe ” option on the right to “ OFF ” .

As for audio, this is not necessary, as your voice will be heard at the end of the video where the end screen appears.

On Placeit , you also have a library of royalty-free images and videos that you can add. You can also download royalty-free animations from other sites and use them.

Once finished, you click on the blue '' Download '' button and Placeit offers you the choice of purchasing only this end screen or taking out a subscription to have unlimited access to all the options. It's up to you to see what suits you.

As soon as you choose your option, you will be able to register and insert your email address, your password and check the necessary boxes. Also, you will be able to save your end screen on the platform for possible modifications later by clicking on '' Save Draft '' at the top right.
